Driving 540 miles from Washington State to Montana along the Canadian border.
After a short ferry journey from Port Townsend on the Olympic Peninsula to Coupeville on Whidbey Island, it was time to take the road towards east and follow the Canadian Border.
I leave Whidbey Island passing by the impressive Deception Pass (a strait separating Whidbey Island from Fidalgo Island). The pass connects Skagit Bay, part of Puget Sound, with the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
The next 65 miles will not be of high interest until I reach the entrance of North Cascades National Park.
